Common

Questions

Everything you need to know before embarking on your Arctic expedition.

  • How do you get to Svalbard?

Flights to Svalbard are only available from Norway, departing from either Oslo or Tromsø, before arriving in Longyearbyen.

  • What do we offer?

Customized day-by-day itineraries tailored to your interests and pace

Reservations at the best hotels across Svalbard

Assistance with ferry bookings, including trips from Longyearbyen to Pyramiden, Barentsburg, and Ny-Ålesund

Booking and organizing excursions, activities, and experiences throughout Svalbard

Reliable support throughout your trip, handling any issues and helping with adjustments on the go

Coordination of tours, as well as airport and hotel transfers

  • What is the recommended travel length in Svalbard?

For most travelers, 5 to 7 days is ideal to experience Svalbard fully without feeling rushed. This gives you time to explore Longyearbyen, take fjord and glacier excursions, enjoy Arctic wildlife, and soak in the unique landscapes.

If your focus is on adventure activities—like snowmobile trips, boat safaris, or Northern Lights hunting—you might consider 7–10 days to fit everything in comfortably. Shorter trips of 3–4 days are possible but focus mainly on highlights rather than a complete Arctic experience.

  • What time of year should you visit Svalbard?

Summer (May–October): The Midnight Sun keeps Svalbard bathed in light, perfect for hiking, fjord cruises, and spotting wildlife like polar bears, walruses, and seabirds. The milder temperatures make exploring the islands easier and more accessible.

Winter (November–April): The polar night creates a magical Arctic atmosphere with Northern Lights, snowmobiling, dog sledding, and other snow-based adventures. The icy landscapes are dramatic and unforgettable.

In short: Summer is ideal for daylight adventures and wildlife, while winter offers auroras and Arctic wilderness experiences.

  • Why do you need our help planning your trip to Svalbard?

Svalbard is remote and unique, with limited flights, extreme weather, and seasonal restrictions on activities. Planning a trip independently can be complex and time-consuming, from arranging flights, hotels, and ferries to coordinating tours and packing for Arctic conditions.

With our help, your trip is seamless and stress-free. We provide personalized itineraries, fast problem-solving, and expert support for sudden changes, cancellations, or last-minute adjustments. From curating activities on the fly to ensuring transfers and accommodations run smoothly, we make sure you can focus entirely on enjoying the Arctic experience.

  • How far in advance should you book your trip to Svalbard?

Svalbard is a remote destination with limited accommodations, flights, and tours, so planning ahead is essential. Popular travel periods—summer for the Midnight Sun or winter for the Northern Lights—fill up quickly. Booking early ensures you get the best hotels, prime tour slots, and optimal travel dates.

Waiting too long can make your trip more expensive, as hotel rates and tour prices often rise closer to the travel date. Early booking also allows us to customize your itinerary and coordinate all logistics smoothly, from transfers to excursions.

The good news is you don’t need to pay everything upfront. We only require a 20% deposit to secure your trip, giving you flexibility while locking in the best rates and options.

  • When is the best time to see the Northern Lights and polar bears in Svalbard?

The best time to see the Northern Lights is during the winter season, usually between the beginning of October and the end of February. Since it is dark in Svalbard almost all day in winter, the chance of seeing the northern lights is one of the highest in the world

  • What is the difference between the private tour package and our regular tour package?

Our private tour packages are designed for travelers who want a personalized, flexible experience. You’ll have your own guide, tailored itinerary, and the freedom to adjust activities and timing to suit your interests. This makes the experience more intimate and customizable—but it also comes at a higher cost due to the exclusive service.

In contrast, our regular tour packages follow a set itinerary and may include small groups of travelers, offering a more cost-effective option while still providing expert guidance and well-planned activities.
